In the News: Boating Company Expansion in Pitt County

Boating Company Expansion in Pitt County

Big things are happening for the City of Greenville. One exciting bit of recent news proves the city’s continued growth. A large boating company expansion in Pitt County is underway and Greenville, the county seat, is the chosen site for the 230,000 square-foot facility!

Take it to the Waters

World Cat Catamarans is investing nearly $8.8 million into the new facility, which will provide approximately 60 jobs. Opportunities of employment with the award-winning catamaran manufacturer will range from production to sales. City officials are hoping operations will be in full swing this year.

World Cat’s headquarters is located about 30 minutes north of Greenville in Tarboro. With the boating company expansion in Pitt County, it demonstrates the area’s ability to support a fast-growing industry and stay competitive in today’s economic market.

Supply and Demand

As people adjust to the “new normal,” outdoor recreation that encourages natural social distancing—like boating—has seen a rise. It allows for fun, safe quality family or friend time in small groups. With plenty of wide-open water just 87 miles away from Greenville, it makes sense that the city was selected for the boating company expansion in Pitt County.

This new facility in Greenville will specialize in building larger boats. A high consumer demand for 36-foot to 50-foot Custom World Cat’s led to the need for a larger space. The boats twin hull design is known for its stable, smooth ride.
