At the Pitt County Arboretum, you’ll find seven whole acres of natural beauty to explore. Not to mention, you can check out a wide variety of gardens. And if you don’t know where to start, they offer both guided and self-led walking tours.

All About the Gardens
Did you know that the Pitt County Arboretum website lists 14 gardens in total? You can pick your favorites—or you can walk through them all. Your options include:
- A butterfly garden, filled with plants for our winged friends to pollinate;
- A small fruit garden;
- A walking garden, complete with a trail to traverse;
- A vegetable garden;
- A wet sites garden, which showcases plants that thrive in damp areas moistened by continual runoff;
- An herb garden;
- A fire hydrant garden (yes, that’s really the name!), which hosts succulents, grasses, and other low maintenance plants;
- A wildflower garden;
- A rose garden;
- And more.

Visiting Details
At the Pitt County Arboretum, admission is totally free! The Arboretum opens seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. in April through October and from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in November through March.
You can take a self-led tour any time! However, if you want to reserve a guided tour, schedule one by calling 252-902-1709.
Finally, you can find the Arboretum at 403 Government Circle in Greenville. If you need a landmark to look out for, the Arboretum sits around the Pitt County Agricultural Building.
