It officially summer! Celebrate and cool off with a dip in the new Greenville Outdoor Aquatics Facility, which opened to the public on June 15th!
The new facility
Work on the new Greenville Outdoor Aquatics Facility actually began last summer. This summer it opened to the public.
In fact, a private invite-only ribbon cutting was held for the new facility along with the renovated Eppes Recreation Center on Friday, June 3rd.
The now-open aquatics center was built to replace the city’s 50-year-old community pool at Guy Smith Park, which is currently closed.
More about the Greenville Outdoor Aquatics Facility
Today residents are welcome to cool off poolside and enjoy the 165,000-gallon pool. Not to mention the 16-foot-high waterslide and a couple of built-in basketball hoops.
The upgraded pool also features six competition-style lanes as well as a zero-depth entrance. It reaches depths up to seven-feet.
Did we mention the children’s play area? There is also a 4,000-square-foot bathhouse and 14,000-square foot pool deck on-premises too.
Location
The new Greenville Outdoor Aquatics Facility is located at Thomas Foreman Park at 400 Nash St. The new pool was part of a $4 million upgrade to the park’s overall facilities.
City residents and non-residents alike are welcome to use the pool Wednesday through Friday from 1:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday the pool is open from noon to 5 p.m. and from 1 to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
Currently, the pool is closed on Monday and Tuesday.
Admission is $4 for Greenville residents and $6 for non-residents. For more information, call 252-329-4567. Season passes for individuals and families are also available for purchase.
